“A Daddy-Preneur Who Is Crazy About Eating”

Welcome to our recipe world!

Where does the word Chatti Matti come from?

Chatti Matti is a Bengali term I created which actually means “something” in relation to food.

As you may have noticed on the title above I am a crazy guy who loves to eat all sorts of food, although there are times when there are restrictions for me now due to my age and health conditions.

Since early childhood, whenever I wanted to eat something, I would say to my mom give me some “Chatti Matti” and this has continued on today with my own family, my wife Amina and my two daughters Mushfika and Navida.

Oh sorry for not introducing myself. My name is Nurul Chowdhury and I do have a day job as an accountant and also am a Business Coach.

My origins are from Bangladesh but have lived almost my whole life abroad. Before coming to Paris, I lived in the Middle East (Bahrain and then Dubai) for 17 years, where I spent the early childhood until the age of 17.

I landed in Paris in 1989, when I was separated from my mom and had started a bachelor’s life in Paris.

I have always been crazy about cooking and has built this passion since I was 9 with my mom. Living as a bachelor in France confirmed my passion for cooking and I put to work my culinary art.

I love doing French cakes and pastries although I never eat much as I am more of a salty food eater. Give me all sorts of steak, grilled, barbequed food and I am your best buddy.

Yes, in the beginning it was really tough as I had no knowledge of this profession, I used to miss my mom’s cuisine. No matter how hard I tried, my recipes never came out right.

I used to spend hours on the phone with my mom to learn various recipes.

Then I got married in 1993 and my wife also from Bangladesh joined me in Paris in 1995. The funny thing was that she also did not have the experience of cooking.

This was challenging but also a fun journey for us as we learned the various types of cuisine. She was as fond as myself.

We both love cooking and love eating delicious and tasty recipes. We have created a passion for cooking and have built a huge collection of fabulous French, Indian, Chinese and Bengali recipes.

My wife was little desire about cooking in the beginning but when we had our first child, She started devoting more time towards cooking.

Life started getting busier but our love for delicious food did not cease, we have been testing and trying various recipes and enjoy having with our kids.

Eating outside can be very expensive and not always very healthy. We hardly go out. Why go out when you can prepare similar famous dinner recipes at home. We prefer eating at home rather than going to a restaurant and it saves us a lot of money.

When it comes to having dinner party, we get all excited as we want our friends and relatives to taste our new discoveries. You will find many easy dinner party ideas here. Our biggest party organized was for 60 (for our daughter’s first birthday).

Honestly, we are no big chef but we love cooking and this passion has led to a desire to try and taste those famous recipes.
